GTA 6’s New Minimap Looks Like a Natural Evolution of the Series

The minimap has always been a small but important part of the GTA experience. It has changed quite a bit over the years, and GTA 6 looks like it is taking another step forward.

From GTA III and Vice City to San Andreas, GTA IV, and GTA V, Rockstar has gradually changed the way the minimap looks and displays information.

The GTA 6 minimap shown in the image looks noticeably different from GTA V. It appears cleaner and more modern, with the route displayed clearly and the surrounding roads and areas being easier to recognize.

What I like most is that Rockstar didn't completely abandon the familiar GTA minimap design. It still feels recognizable, but the updated interface fits the more modern look of GTA 6.

The Evolution of the GTA Minimap

The changes become pretty obvious when looking at the series side by side.

GTA III introduced the basic circular radar that became a recognizable part of the series. Vice City and San Andreas added more visual information and icons, while GTA IV went for a cleaner and darker style.

Then GTA V introduced a more detailed map with GPS navigation, making it much easier to follow routes while driving.

Now, GTA 6 appears to be refining that formula even further.

A Small Change That Makes a Difference

It's easy to overlook something like a minimap because it isn't the main attraction of the game. But players will probably be looking at it constantly while driving, exploring Vice City, or trying to reach a destination.

The new design seems to keep the functionality of GTA V while giving it a cleaner and more modern appearance.

After seeing how the minimap has evolved throughout the series, GTA 6's version feels like a natural next step rather than a complete redesign.

What do you think of the new GTA 6 minimap compared to GTA V?
