The difference might not seem huge at first, but putting the older and newer versions next to each other makes it much easier to notice.
Jason Looks Different Than He Did in 2023
In the original GTA 6 reveal, Jason had a noticeably different hairstyle and overall appearance. His face also looked a little younger and less detailed compared with what we've seen in later footage.
The newer version of Jason feels more polished. His character model has more detail, the hair looks different, and his overall appearance seems to fit the world of Vice City much better.
Some of these changes could simply be the result of Rockstar continuing to work on the game after the first trailer.
Rockstar Has Had Years to Improve GTA 6
One thing that's easy to forget is that the first GTA 6 trailer was released years before the game's final release.
Rockstar has had plenty of time to continue improving character models, animations, lighting and other visual details. So it's not surprising that Jason doesn't look exactly the same in every piece of footage.
This is actually one of the interesting parts of following a Rockstar game before release. Characters can change quite a bit during development, even when their basic design remains recognizable.
The New Look Fits Jason Better
Personally, I think the newer version looks more fitting for Jason.
The updated appearance gives him a slightly rougher and more mature look, which works well with the character we've seen throughout the newer GTA 6 footage.
It's also a good reminder of just how much GTA 6 has changed since we first saw it.

The difference between the 2023 and 2026 versions of Jason is pretty noticeable when you put them side by side.
Maybe it's just the normal evolution of a game that's still being polished, but it's interesting to see how Rockstar has gradually changed one of GTA 6's main characters.
